The world’s richest man, Elon Musk, has dismissed media reports of building a private airport, saying it “would be silly”.
The CEO of Tesla and SpaceX took to Twitter to denounce reports that he was planning to develop a new private airport.
“Not true. Tesla is 5 minutes from Austin International Airport. It would be silly to build another private airport, however, the existing commercial airport needs another runway as Austin is growing fast!” Musk wrote.
Multiple media outlets had reported that Musk is building an executive airport in Austin, with 130,000 square feet of community hangar space and a 6,025-foot runway.
Reports said the airport will be east of Austin, Texas, near Bastrop. Tesla, which was founded in Carlos California and later moved to Palo Alto, now has its global headquarters in Austin.
