• Smith Falls, Ont.-based Canopy Growth launches new products for its 7Acres and Doja brands. Both brands include some of Canopy’s premium offerings. 7Acres is expanding with the new flower release Platinum Kush Breath, sold in 3.5g increments, and a new infused pre-roll made with 7Acres papaya flower and bubble hash. Doja, which has a legacy of growing in British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley, recently released the best-selling strain Doja 91K in a 14g option, the brand’s first large-format premium release. This is being augmented by three new flower varieties: OG Deluxe, Fresh Biscotti and Blackberry Cream, all in 3.5g containers. They are now rolling out across Canada.

•Minneapolis, Minn.-based Goodness Growth Holdings is bringing cannabis gummies to its home state, following the new law legalizing THC in food and beverages that went into effect yesterday. The gummies were launched under Goodness Growth’s Vireo brand and initially include Key Lime, Concord Grape, Hawaiian Pineapple and Oxnard Strawberry flavors, all with 10mg of THC. An additional flavor is planned, Alfonso Mango, which will contain equal levels of THC and CBD. Vireo gummies are available now at the company’s eight green product dispensaries in Minnesota.

• Jerry Garcia Wellness, based in Denver, Colorado, launches its inaugural CBD products. The brand is an official partner of the Garcia family and has a line of products that pays tribute to the Grateful Dead musician. This line includes a collection of tinctures, topicals and gummies in the shape of a rose. Jerry Garcia Wellness products will be available for purchase in the fall.

•A group of scientists gave Canadian health authorities an official recommendation that CBD is “safe and tolerable” for adults and should be available without a prescription. The findings will strengthen CBD’s place as a consumer product that will not be harmful to the average consumer. That said, the panel also recommended that all CBD products carry warnings about possible interactions with other drugs and alcohol and be specifically labeled to warn of the known negative effects of CBD on fetal development in pregnant women. The report also noted that CBD “is not habit forming.”
