Grand jury indicts 15 people | News, Sports, Jobs


A Noble County Grand Jury on Monday indicted 15 people, including a Virginia man accused of burning a toddler.

Michael Keith Fox, 23, of Spotsylvania, Va., was charged with felony kidnapping, a first-degree felony, aggravated arson, a first-degree felony, and felony assault, a felony of the second degree. .

The Noble County Sheriff’s Office reported they received a 911 call on July 8 from a residence on Outpost Road, requesting an ambulance due to a small child who was burned.

The sheriff’s report said United Ambulance Service and Belle Valley First Responders were dispatched to the residence. The boy was then taken to Marietta Memorial Hospital due to the severity of his burns, according to the report.

After being examined in the emergency department, hospital staff notified the Noble County Sheriff’s Office that the injuries were suspected to be the result of child abuse, according to the report.

Noble County Children’s Services, along with a Sheriff’s Office deputy, responded to Marietta Memorial. Sheriff’s detectives were notified and then took over the investigation with continued assistance from Noble County Children’s Services, according to the report.

The child was taken to the Burn Unit at Akron Children’s Hospital and admitted for treatment of burn injuries.

Fox was initially charged with felony assault after admitting how the boy’s burns happened, the sheriff’s office said.

It was reported that the Noble County Health Department was requested by the Noble County Sheriff to inspect the residence. After inspection, the residence was deemed uninhabitable and therefore condemned for human habitation.

Other defendants include:

¯ Wykeitha Dudley, 35, of Akron, was charged with one count of unauthorized use of a vehicle, a fifth-degree felony.

¯ Nathan Glidden, 18, of Caldwell, was charged with one count of breaking and entering and one count of vandalism, both fifth-degree felonies; and one count of violation of underage drinking laws, a first-degree misdemeanor.

¯ Devon Payton, 31, of Euclid, was charged with one count of failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer, a third-degree felony.

¯ Bradley Powell, 42, of Quaker City, was charged with aggravated drug possession, a fifth-degree felony.

¯ Jessie Short, 39, of Caldwell, was charged with one count of unlawful manufacture of drugs, a first-degree felony and one count of unlawful assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs , a second-degree felony.

There were also nine secret indictments that included 14 counts:

¯ One count of attempted aggravated drug possession, a third-degree felony; unlawful transportation of drugs of abuse on the premises of a specified government facility, a felony of the third degree; forgery, first degree misdemeanor; and possession of drugs, a first-degree misdemeanor.

¯ Two counts each of attempted illegal transportation of drugs of abuse on the grounds of a specified government facility, both fourth-degree felonies.

¯ Eight counts of aggravated drug possession, fifth-degree felonies.
