The move comes in the wake of criticism it received after Sha\u2019Carri Richardson\u2019s suspension from the Olympics for cannabis.<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span>The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/national-urban-league-backs-marijuana-legalization-with-licenses-reserved-for-impacted-communities\/\"><span>National Urban League<\/span><\/a><span>, a 100-plus-year-old civil rights organization, is calling for cannabis legalization with a focus on social equity\u2014including reserving half of business licenses for impacted communities.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>\u201cMarijuana enforcement is more harmful than marijuana itself.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/drake-killer-mike-and-other-celebs-push-biden-to-issue-mass-marijuana-pardons\/\"><span>Drake, Killer Mike, Meek Mill, 2 Chainz, Ty Dolla $ign, T.I., Kevin Garnett, Deion Sanders and others<\/span><\/a><span> sent a letter calling on President Joe Biden to issue a \u201cfull, complete and unconditional pardon\u201d to anyone convicted of a nonviolent marijuana offense.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>\u201cEnough is enough. Jay Obernolte (R-CA)<\/span><\/a><span> tweeted, \u201cThe @sbcountysheriff is working hard to shut down large-scale illegal cannabis grows. Unfortunately, California laws are standing in the way of a long-term solution to this problem. We need to continue working until this illegal activity no longer threatens our community.\u201d<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span>Pennsylvania Democratic Senate candidate <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JohnFetterman\/status\/1437873849018814475\"><span>John Fetterman<\/span><\/a><span>, currently the state\u2019s lieutenant governor, tweeted, \u201cIt\u2019s 4:20 on 420 days until the election and our most recent hotel room on the campaign trail was room 420. This bill, the crime bills of the 80s, and similar state-level policies led to the U.S. having the highest incarceration rate on the planet. Let\u2019s be clear: @LeaderHoyer was on every single one of those bills. My Administration is fully on board to make certain South Dakota continues to implement the most responsible, patient-focused medical cannabis program in the country.\u201d<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AllenWest\/status\/1437796170160611338\"><span>Texas<\/span><\/a><span> Republican gubernatorial candidate Allen West tweeted, \u201cBlue states can make marijuana \u2014 federally an illegal drug \u2014 legal &amp; allow it to be transferred outside those states after purchase &amp; the Feds say nothing. As Governor, I will defend Texas sovereignty and uphold our laws. I will not allow the federal government to usurp Texas\u2019 authority and undermine our laws. If Colorado can make marijuana legal, then noise suppressors for firearms will be legal in Texas.\u201d Meanwhile, Democratic attorney general candidate <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MerrittForTexas\/status\/1437796532053549065\"><span>Lee Merritt<\/span><\/a><span> tweeted, \u201cIt\u2019s time to decriminalize marijuana and end the war on drugs once and for all.\u201d<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RIDemParty\/status\/1437797784682389507\"><span>Rhode Island\u2019s<\/span><\/a><span> House speaker said if lawmakers don\u2019t tackle marijuana legalization during a special session in October the issue will carry over to January, and he also discussed the differences in details among competing proposals while saying that the reform won\u2019t be a big revenue source (starting around 8:30 into the audio).<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/tulsaworld.com\/news\/local\/marijuana\/medical-marijuana-compliance-efforts-highlighted-as-deadline-to-hire-more-staff-looms\/article_b7b29d2e-117f-11ec-a801-eb23d9445e8b.html\"><span>Oklahoma<\/span><\/a><span> lawmakers pressed regulators about medical cannabis compliance oversight efforts at a hearing.<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><a
