{"id":1814,"date":"2021-10-18T09:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-10-18T09:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/CBMiVWh0dHBzOi8vY3RuZXdzanVua2llLmNvbS8yMDIxLzEwLzE4L21lZGljYWwtbWFyaWp1YW5hLXBhdGllbnRzLWNhbi1ub3ctcHVyY2hhc2UtbW9yZS_SAQA"},"modified":"2021-10-18T09:00:00","modified_gmt":"2021-10-18T09:00:00","slug":"medical-marijuana-patients-can-now-purchase-more-ct-news-junkie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thcinct.com\/?p=1814","title":{"rendered":"Medical Marijuana Patients Can Now Purchase More &#8211; CT News Junkie"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"780\" height=\"560\" src=\"https:\/\/thcinct.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/medical-marijuana-patients-can-now-purchase-more-ct-news-junkie.jpg\" alt class=\"wp-image-202836\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\"><figcaption>Workers cleaning buds at CTPharma (CTNewsJunkie \/ file photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Connecticut\u2019s nearly 54,000 medical marijuana patients will now be able to buy 3 ounces of cannabis monthly.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The increase, announced by the Department of Consumer Protection, is an effort to provide patients with greater access to medication for their debilitating conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner Michelle Seagull says the palliative effect will benefit some patients.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<aside class=\"scaip scaip-1 \">\n<aside id=\"bs_zones-47\" class=\"bs_zones clearfix\"><\/aside>\n<aside id=\"bs_zones-19\" class=\"bs_zones clearfix\"><\/aside>\n<\/aside>\n<p>Patients had been limited to 2.5 ounces before this month.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPatient need and cost will be a natural cap for a lot of people,\u201d Seagull told the Medical Marijuana Board of Physicians Friday.<\/p>\n<p>No action is required by prescribing physicians or patients.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<aside class=\"scaip scaip-2 \">\n<aside id=\"bs_zones-23\" class=\"bs_zones clearfix\"><\/aside>\n<aside id=\"bs_zones-46\" class=\"bs_zones clearfix\"><\/aside>\n<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cMaking medication accessible to qualifying patients is a top priority and increasing the allotment is an important recognition that there are some patients who may benefit from more than 2.5 ounces a month,\u201d Seagull said. \u201cWhile cannabis growers in our state prepare for the anticipated increase in demand in the adult-use cannabis market, it\u2019s vital that they are also able to continue to supply patients in the medical marijuana market.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, <a href=\"https:\/\/portal.ct.gov\/DCP\/News-Releases-from-the-Department-of-Consumer-Protection\/2021-News-Releases\/Medical-Marijuana-Patients-May-Begin-Using-Any-Dispensary\">DCP announced<\/a> that medical marijuana patients may now access medication at any of the 18 licensed dispensary facilities throughout the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis change will provide greater choice and better access to patients who rely on these products,\u201d Seagull said<strong>.<\/strong> \u201cIt also provides patients more flexibility if their preferred dispensary does not have their medicine in stock.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"scaip scaip-3 \">\n<aside id=\"bs_zones-48\" class=\"bs_zones clearfix\"><\/aside>\n<aside id=\"bs_zones-18\" class=\"bs_zones clearfix\"><\/aside>\n<\/aside>\n<p>Previously, patients were required to register their designated dispensary facility with DCP and were permitted to purchase products only from that dispensary facility.<\/p>\n<p>Dispensaries can now start delivering to patients too.
