&#8211; USA TODAY"},"content":{"rendered":"<aside class=\"gnt_em gnt_em__fp gnt_em_vp__tp gnt_em__el\" aria-label=\"Video - Can high THC levels lead to psychosis?\"><\/aside>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">The New York Attorney General wants parents to be on high alert about cannabis products&nbsp;that could be mistaken for regular candy and snacks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">In a <a href=\"https:\/\/ag.ny.gov\/press-release\/2021\/consumer-alert-attorney-general-james-issues-alert-protect-children-deceptive\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-t-l=\":b|e|inline click|${u}\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\">press release issued&nbsp;Tuesday<\/a>, Attorney General Letitia James noted the products are not only illegal in New York, but pose a great danger to unsuspecting children.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">\u201cThese unregulated and deceptive cannabis products will only confuse and harm New Yorkers, which is why they have no place in our state,\u201d James said in&nbsp;the press release.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">The press release included pictures of THC&nbsp;products that are packaged to look like ordinary&nbsp;Sour Patch Kids, Oreos, Cheeto Puffs and Doritos.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">&#8220;New York parents should be on the alert for deceptive cannabis products that look like standard snacks and candy but contain dangerously high concentrations of THC,&#8221; James tweeted.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"gnt_em gnt_em_tw\" data-g-r=\"lazy\" data-gl-method=\"loadTwitter\" data-v-id=\"1453036936260694018\" aria-label=\"Twitter Embed\"><\/aside>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">THC is the compound found in cannabis&nbsp;that produces the &#8220;high&#8221; effect in users.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/marijuana\/health-effects\/poisoning.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-t-l=\":b|e|inline click|${u}\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\">Centers for Disease Prevention and Control<\/a> said the ingestion of the compound through food or drink products poses greater risks of poisoning, especially in children.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\"><strong class=\"gnt_ar_b_al\">Marijuana legalization was a mistake:<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/opinion\/voices\/2021\/10\/17\/marijuana-colorado-damage-children-brain-development-addiction\/8469449002\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-t-l=\":b|e|inline click|${u}\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\">Highly concentrated pot is destroying my son&#8217;s life<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\"><strong class=\"gnt_ar_b_al\">&#8216;We can get it right&#8217;:<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/nation\/2021\/06\/22\/connecticut-recreational-marijuana-legalization-ned-lamont\/5313310001\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-t-l=\":b|e|inline click|${u}\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\">Recreational marijuana use has now been legalized in nearly half of the US<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">&nbsp;&#8220;Since marijuana use has been legalized in some states, accidental marijuana poisonings in children have increased, sometimes requiring visits to the emergency room or hospitalization,&#8221;
