NORML\u2019s Colorado <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.coloradonorml.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">state affiliate<\/a> had campaigned against the proposition, <a href=\"https:\/\/norml.org\/blog\/2021\/09\/01\/colorado-state-norml-affiliate-urges-no-vote-on-ballot-proposal-to-increase-retail-taxes-on-adult-use-marijuana-sales\/\">opining<\/a> that excessive taxation on regulated marijuana products would drive consumers back to the illicit market. In Denver, city voters <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.9news.com\/article\/news\/politics\/elections\/denver-ordinance-300-election-results-on-marijuana-tax\/73-4ba14801-34ed-4306-803b-54537b110966\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.9news.com\/article\/news\/politics\/elections\/denver-ordinance-300-election-results-on-marijuana-tax\/73-4ba14801-34ed-4306-803b-54537b110966\" target=\"_blank\">similarly rejected<\/a> a separate measure (Ordinance 300) that sought to impose additional municipal taxes on marijuana sales. <\/p>\n<p>Local voters also decided on a variety of municipal ballot measures. In <strong>Philadelphia<\/strong>, the largest city to vote on marijuana policy in yesterday\u2019s election, voters overwhelmingly decided in favor of Question 1, which states, \u201cThe citizens of Philadelphia call upon the Pennsylvania General Assembly and the Governor to pass legislation that will decriminalize, regulate, and tax the use, and sale to adults aged 21 years or older, of cannabis for non-medical purposes.\u201d The state\u2019s Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf has <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.governor.pa.gov\/newsroom\/gov-wolf-legalization-of-adult-use-cannabis-can-lead-to-economic-gains-and-restorative-justice-for-pennsylvanians\/\" data-type=\"URL\" target=\"_blank\">campaigned in favor<\/a> of legalizing the adult use market, but legislative efforts have failed to gain traction in the state\u2019s GOP-leaning legislature. <\/p>\n<p>As in past years, voters in a number of small <strong>Ohio<\/strong> towns decided on municipal proposals to depenalize local marijuana possession. To date, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo\/?fbid=204861721768413&amp;set=a.193731556214763\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo\/?fbid=204861721768413&amp;set=a.193731556214763\" target=\"_blank\">22 cities<\/a> in the state have removed local penalties for marijuana-related violations.
