It would deschedule cannabis, expunge prior records, fund equity programs, remove collateral consequences and transfer regulatory authority for marijuana to the Food and Drug Administration and other federal agencies.<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/biden-selects-white-house-drug-czar-who-helped-implement-state-marijuana-program-and-touted-medical-benefits\/\"><span>President Joe Biden nominated Rahul Gupta<\/span><\/a><span>, who previously oversaw the implementation of West Virginia\u2019s medical cannabis program and touted the health and economic benefits of marijuana reform, to serve as the director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy. Under his leadership, the state program added smoking as an approved form of consumption.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span>Harm reduction advocates have concerns about how he oversaw the decertification of a syringe access program, however.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span>The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/california-bill-to-legalize-psychedelics-possession-advances-again-with-new-amendments-that-add-limits\/\"><span>California Assembly Health Committee<\/span><\/a><span> approved a Senate-passed bill to legalize possession of psychedelics like psilocybin, LSD and MDMA. But the panel added new possession limits that are dividing advocates.<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/nearly-88000-new-jersey-marijuana-cases-vacated-or-dismissed-this-month-following-decriminalization-implementation\/\"><span>New Jersey courts<\/span><\/a><span> have dismissed or vacated nearly 88,000 marijuana cases since a decriminalization law took effect on July 1. Henry McMaster (R) said he opposes legalizing marijuana but that medical cannabis is \u201ca little bit different story.\u201d Meanwhile, Democratic gubernatorial candidate <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JoeCunninghamSC\/status\/1414596220006379529\"><span>Joe Cunningham<\/span><\/a><span> will participate in a virtual conversation about cannabis with South Carolina NORML on Wednesday.<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GovernorTomWolf\/status\/1414972387347603462\"><span>Pennsylvania<\/span><\/a><span> Gov. Tom Wolf (D) tweeted, \u201cMarijuana is now legal in three more states (CT, NM, VA). In Pennsylvania, I\u2019m still waiting for legislators to get a bill to my desk. Pennsylvanians want it. I\u2019m for it.
