The Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection\u2019s (DCP) Drug Control Division has selected the BioTrack software for seed-to-sale tracking of the state\u2019s medical and adult-use cannabis, according to a Westfair<\/a> report. The inventory system is a product of Consultants Consortium Inc. and its partner Forian.<\/p>\n DCP Commissioner Michelle H. Seagull said the information will allow state regulators<\/a> \u201cto see what is currently available in both markets, project future inventory, and identify any potential diversion in the markets.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cBeing able to track the state\u2019s cannabis inventory from seed to sale will allow the department to monitor cannabis production and inventory as it moves from the earliest phases of growth to when it reaches the qualifying patient or consumer.\u201d \u2014 <\/em>Seagull to Westfair<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Information collected by the BioTrack system will be used by the DCP and the Department of Revenue Services and will be made available to other entities, including law enforcement, as required under the state\u2019s adult-use cannabis law, which was approved by lawmakers<\/a> and signed<\/a> by Gov. Ned Lamont (D) in June.<\/p>\n While adult-use sales are expected in Connecticut<\/a> sometime next year, Seagull warned in September<\/a> that the state\u2019s timeline for adult-use cannabis sales may take longer than legislators first thought.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ve been suggesting that there will likely be sales by the end of 2022, and we\u2019re still aspiring for that,\u201d she told the Connecticut Examiner. \u201cObviously, we have to see how things play out in the next few months.\u201d<\/p>\n Seagull said that unknowns, such as who might qualify for a social equity license, could contribute to the delay.<\/p>\n\n
