Tate Reeves (R). While the governor had threatened a veto over previous versions, he said his team will carefully review the legislation before he makes a decision and is \u201cvery pleased that we got to see so much progress made in improving\u201d it with amendments.<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span>The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/delaware-lawmakers-approve-marijuana-legalization-bill-in-committee-vote-2\/\"><span>Delaware House Health and Human Development Committee<\/span><\/a><span> approved a marijuana legalization bill.<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/minnesota-governor-puts-marijuana-legalization-funding-in-budget-request\/\"><span>Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D)<\/span><\/a><span> included funding for the legalization of marijuana in his budget request. The House of Representatives passed a bill to legalize cannabis last year but it has stalled in the Republican-controlled Senate. <\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span>The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/south-carolina-senate-begins-long-anticipated-medical-marijuana-debate\/\"><span>South Carolina Senate<\/span><\/a><span> finally began a floor debate on a medical cannabis bill that\u2019s been eight years in the making. The discussion is expected to last for several legislative days before a vote is held.<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/colorado-activists-file-revised-ballot-initiatives-to-legalize-psilocybin-and-establish-healing-centers\/\"><span>Colorado activists<\/span><\/a><span> filed revised ballot initiatives to legalize psilocybin\u2014this time without possession limits. Separately, state lawmakers introduced a bill to study the therapeutic benefits of psychedelics.<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/wisconsin-republicans-announce-limited-medical-marijuana-legalization-bill\/\"><span>Wisconsin Republican lawmakers<\/span><\/a><span> introduced a limited medical cannabis legalization bill. It comes one day after Senate GOP members unanimously blocked a broader Democratic-led marijuana legalization amendment.<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><b>\/ FEDERAL<\/b><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2022\/01\/26\/why-amazon-is-ramping-up-its-push-legalizing-marijuana\/\"><span>Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA)<\/span><\/a><span> said she\u2019s \u201cdeeply skeptical that Amazon\u2019s lobbying [on marijuana] is anything more than a self-interested move to monopolize yet another market, potentially blocking Black and Latino entrepreneurs from an emerging industry.\u201d<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepNancyMace\/status\/1486429479320891392\"><span>Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC)<\/span><\/a><span> tweeted, \u201cThe overwhelming majority of South Carolinians are in favor of cannabis reform in some way, shape or form. It\u2019s time our laws in South Carolina reflect the will of its people. That\u2019s why I support SC Sen. Tom Davis\u2019 Compassionate Care Act.\u201d She also <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.postandcourier.com\/politics\/congresswoman-nancy-mace-lobbies-for-medical-marijuana-during-sc-statehouse-visit\/article_d0215994-7e18-11ec-8a27-cb329d0ffda5.html\"><span>appeared<\/span><\/a><span> at the South Carolina Statehouse to rally support for the bill.&nbsp; <\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/obernolte.house.gov\/issuessurvey\"><span>Rep. Jay Obernolte (R-CA)<\/span><\/a><span> included an option on illegal marijuana grows in a survey about which issues are important to constituents.<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span>Vermont Democratic congressional candidate <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KeshaRam\/status\/1486032290627174404\"><span>Kesha Ram Hinsdale<\/span><\/a><span>, currently a state senator, tweeted, \u201cLast year, I introduced a bill to repair harm from the so-called War on Drugs by directing revenue from cannabis control to impacted communities. Grateful the Cannabis Advisory Board is advancing that recommendation this session. We must reinvest in true community safety.\u201d<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><b>\/ STATES<\/b><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/floridapolitics.com\/archives\/490228-gov-desantis-demurs-on-marijuana-legalization-but-says-he-dislikes-the-smell\/\"><span>Florida<\/span><\/a><span> Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) avoided a question about whether he supports marijuana legalization but complained about the smell of people smoking it\u2014though he did express support for not incarcerating people for cannabis.<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GovSisolak\/status\/1486125471670554624\"><span>Nevada<\/span><\/a><span> Gov. Steve Sisolak (D) tweeted, \u201cI\u2019m pleased to see the @NevadaCCB and the Cannabis Advisory Commission highlighting the need for more diversity and inclusion within Nevada\u2019s legal cannabis industry.\u201d<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JohnCranley\/status\/1486005447102500871\"><span>Ohio<\/span><\/a><span> Democratic gubernatorial candidate John Cranley, currently Cincinnati\u2019s mayor, tweeted, \u201cIt\u2019s not enough for marijuana to be decriminalized in Ohio. Every day it\u2019s illegal is another day we\u2019re leaving tax revenue and jobs on the table that could be going back right into our communities. It\u2019s time to #LegalizeIt.\u201d<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AGKarlRacine\/status\/1486063015309058049\"><span>Washington, D.C.\u2019s<\/span><\/a><span> attorney general tweeted, \u201cSafe injection sites are saving lives in New York\u2013since opening on Nov. 30th, they\u2019ve reversed at least 85 overdoses. I support these sites, and will continue standing up for them in court, because we need to do all we can to fight this epidemic.\u201d<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ColoTreasurer\/status\/1486384209547649027\"><span>Colorado\u2019s<\/span><\/a><span> treasurer tweeted, \u201cMore than $12 billion in marijuana has been sold since legalization in 2014, with the state collecting over $2 billion in taxes.\u201d<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenLouiseLucas\/status\/1486143616426913796\"><span>Virginia\u2019s<\/span><\/a><span> Senate president pro tempore tweeted, \u201cLet\u2019s talk about pot.&nbsp; Yes, we legalized it and I even opened the Cannabis Outlet after we did!&nbsp; But the job isn\u2019t done.&nbsp; People are still in jail for something that is legal today.&nbsp; My SB518 would give them all a chance to be re-sentenced and get home with their families.\u201d<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span>The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kotatv.com\/2022\/01\/26\/house-state-affairs-committee-passed-bill-that-determines-what-types-medical-marijuana-patients-can-consume\/\"><span>South Dakota<\/span><\/a><span> House State Affairs Committee approved a bill to limit the types of medical cannabis products that will be allowed.<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span>A <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/annawishartforlegislature\/posts\/384380296829566\"><span>Nebraska<\/span><\/a><span> senator posted, \u201cJust thought I\u2019d drop a quick note that I am not settling for anything that does not create a safe, effective, and accessible medical cannabis system in our state.
