Welcome back to The Week in Weed, your Friday look at what’s
\nhappening in the world of legalized marijuana.<\/p>\n

We’re just one step away from medical cannabis in
\nMississippi. South Dakota’s legislature is hard at work on
\nmedical marijuana licensing. And South Carolina has a medical
\ncannabis bill in the works. Delaware, meanwhile, is looking at
\nlegalizing adult-use marijuana. And finally, we’ve got another
\nGirl Scout cookie story.<\/p>\n

Could we really see medical cannabis in the Magnolia State? As
\nloyal readers know,<\/a> it’s been a long and winding road
\nsince that ballot initiative in November 2020. But we could, at
\nlong last, be coming to the end. The legislature passed<\/a> a bill that now heads to the
\ngovernor’s desk. The bill will become law if he signs it, or if
\nhe does nothing. If he vetoes, there are plenty of votes to
\noverride. So, this looks like a done deal.<\/p>\n

When William Shakespeare wrote, “The course of true love
\nnever did run smooth,” he might have been talking about South Dakota<\/a> and cannabis. There are a lot<\/a> of bills working their way through the
\nlegislature that seek to either expand the market (Senate) or
\nrestrict it (House). Fun times ahead!<\/p>\n

Continuing our exploration of medical marijuana, debate<\/a> on legalizing should start this week in
\nthe South Carolina Senate. It’s taken eight years to get this
\nfar in the process, so who knows if it will go farther. Just
\ngetting a debate in a state with significant opposition to what
\nwould be a very limited program is surprising.<\/p>\n

President Biden’s home state<\/a> is looking into adult-use marijuana.
\nThis is not their first time at this rodeo, as three previous bills
\nhave gone down to defeat. A House committee debates the bill this
\nweek, so we’re early on in this process.<\/p>\n

Selling Girl Scout cookies in front of a marijuana dispensary
\nsounds like a very smart move. As we’ve reported before,<\/a> it can come with complications.
\nAlthough the Michigan situation ended happily for the Scouts,
\nthere’s a new controversy in Arizona.<\/a> Apparently, the rules there prohibit
\nScouts from selling in front of businesses they themselves
\ncan’t enter. It seems like too good an opportunity to pass
\nup.<\/p>\n
