Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) and 30 cosponsors<\/span><\/a><span> filed a new climate workforce bill that would protect workers in some legal marijuana states from being fired or losing access to jobs training over cannabis drug tests.<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span>A <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/colorado-activists-file-competing-psychedelics-legalization-ballot-initiative-for-2022\/\"><span>second team of Colorado activists<\/span><\/a><span> filed a ballot initiative to legalize possession, cultivation and gifting of psychedelics like psilocybin, ibogaine, mescaline and DMT. This comes as another campaign with backing from major funders is advancing separate own measures.<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/congressman-is-outraged-over-lack-of-diversity-in-marijuana-license-approvals-in-new-jersey\/\"><span>Rep. Donald Payne (D-NJ)<\/span><\/a><span> said he\u2019s \u201coutraged\u201d that \u201cBlack-owned businesses have been shut out of the state\u2019s cannabis marketplace.\u201d<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span>The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marijuanamoment.net\/virginia-psilocybin-decriminalization-bill-defeated-in-senate-committee-after-top-gop-lawmaker-flips-support\/\"><span>Virginia Senate Judiciary Committee<\/span><\/a><span> rejected a bill to decriminalize psilocybin, even after amending it with a medical focus. The Republican minority leader, who recently indicated support for the measure, ultimately voted to block it from advancing.<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><b>\/ FEDERAL<\/b><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DrGupta46\/status\/1487133224249798656\"><span>White House Office of National Drug Control Policy Director Rahul Gupta<\/span><\/a><span> discussed substance use issues with North Dakota\u2019s first lady.<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span>The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.federalregister.gov\/documents\/2022\/01\/26\/2022-01517\/government-owned-inventions-availability-for-licensing\"><span>National Institutes of Health<\/span><\/a><span> is making available for licensing and commercial development certain cannabinoid receptor modulating compounds.<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/spectrumlocalnews.com\/nc\/charlotte\/news\/2022\/01\/26\/could-marijuana-decriminalization-happen-in-2022-\"><span>Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC)<\/span><\/a><span> said her federal marijuana legalization bill can appeal to people who love and hate cannabis.<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span>Louisiana Democratic Senate candidate <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/details\/MSNBCW_20220128_190000_Katy_Tur_Reports\/start\/2940\/end\/3000\"><span>Luke Mixon<\/span><\/a><span> said he supports legalizing marijuana but criticized rival Gary Chambers for smoking a blunt in an ad.<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span>Ohio Democratic congressional candidate <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ninaturner\/status\/1487590666599284736\"><span>Nina Turner<\/span><\/a><span> tweeted, \u201cLegalize marijuana, erase records, and make the cannabis industry equitable for communities that have been torn apart by its criminalization.\u201d<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span>Kentucky Democratic congressional candidate <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Compton4KY2022\/status\/1487609447937683457\"><span>William Compton<\/span><\/a><span> tweeted, \u201cMarijuana should be legal in all states, not some. Tax revenue, alone, would bring in the needed money that Kentucky could use to fund public schools! It\u2019s time to legalize it!\u201d<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><b>\/ STATES<\/b><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JohnBKing\/status\/1487452014682546176\"><span>Maryland<\/span><\/a><span> Democratic&nbsp; gubernatorial candidate John King, a former federal education secretary, tweeted, \u201cIt\u2019s past time to legalize adult-use cannabis in Maryland and expunge records for nonviolent offenders. I look forward to equitably implementing this transformative legislation as governor.\u201d<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/grownin.com\/2022\/01\/31\/illinois-ag-makes-unusual-motion-to-allow-more-plaintiffs-in-dispensary-supercase-while-il-supremes-deny-motion-to-award-craft-grow-licenses\/\"><span>Illinois\u2019s<\/span><\/a><span> attorney general filed a motion to allow more rejected marijuana license applicants to join a consolidated lawsuit.<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span>The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kivitv.com\/news\/political\/inside-the-statehouse\/bill-to-legalize-cannabis-derived-pain-relief-spray-passes-idaho-house\"><span>Idaho<\/span><\/a><span> House of Representatives approved a bill to allow the cannabis-derived spray nabiximols to be used by patients with multiple sclerosis or other neurological conditions.<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span>The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.keloland.com\/news\/capitol-news-bureau\/counties-cities-get-no-say-on-medical-marijuana\/\"><span>South Dakota<\/span><\/a><span> House of Representatives defeated a bill to allow local governments to ban medical cannabis businesses.<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mnisready\/status\/1486505015627980806\"><span>Minnesota\u2019s<\/span><\/a><span> House majority leader and Senate minority leader discussed the prospects for marijuana
