Police said Little failed to stop for a signal.<\/p>\n<p>Police said Little initially failed to stop but was pulled over \u201cafter a brief pursuit,\u201d a press release from the department said.<\/p>\n<p> <!-- hearst\/article\/content\/zone.tpl --> <!-- hearst\/article\/content\/embed.tpl --> <\/p>\n<section class=\"article--content-embed automatched\" data-eid=\"item-96904\"> <!-- amp-exco-54b2bfdf-a708-4279-92ad-421e685497a3 --> <\/section>\n<p><!-- e hearst\/article\/content\/embed.tpl --> <!-- e hearst\/article\/content\/zone.tpl --> <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs the officer approached the vehicle, he observed (2) large plastic bags containing a green leafy substance consistent with marijuana,\u201d the release said. Based on the amount, Little was handcuffed and searched by police, which allegedly turned up five unmarked pills \u201csuspected to be counterfeit ecstasy,\u201d according to police.<\/p>\n<p> <!-- Missed: ad --> <!-- Missed: ad --> <\/p>\n<p>Police said Little\u2019s license was suspended and he was also wanted on a re-arrest warrant out of Hartford.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLittle remained uncooperative during booking but told officers the suspected marijuana and ecstasy were actually Cannabidiol,\u201d or CBD, the warrant stated.<\/p>\n<p> <!-- Missed: ad --> <\/p>\n<p>Police tested both the pills and bagged suspected marijuana, both of which tested positive for fentanyl, the release said. The bagged \u201cgreen leafy substance\u201d tested negative for THC, the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana, according to police.<\/p>\n<p> <!-- Missed: ad --> <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is common for individuals who sell narcotics to lace substances with fentanyl to falsely market his\/her product and increase profit margin,\u201d the release said. The total weight of the leafy material was more than 2 pounds.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"article--content-inline\">\n<aside class=\"zone\"> <!-- hearst\/home\/mostPopular.tpl --> <!--e hearst\/home\/mostPopular.tpl --><\/aside>\n<\/aside>\n<p>Little\u2019s arrest comes amid questions over reports about marijuana that was allegedly laced with fentanyl, a synthetic opioid 50 to 100 times more potent than heroin, surfacing in Connecticut.<\/p>\n<p>Last November, the state\u2019s Department of Public Health issued a <a href=\"https:\/\/portal.ct.gov\/DPH\/Press-Room\/Press-Releases---2021\/Officials-From-The-Connecticut-Overdose-Response-Strategy-And-The-DPH-Issue-Warning\">warning<\/a> after 39 recent cases of opioid overdoses were reported in which the victims \u201cdenied any opioid use and claimed to have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ctinsider.com\/news\/article\/Watertown-police-warn-about-fentanyl-laced-16631839.php\">only smoked marijuana<\/a>.\u201d At the time, the instances were thought to point to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ctinsider.com\/news\/article\/How-Connecticut-may-have-detected-nation-s-16634368.php\">first cases<\/a> of marijuana laced with the substance in the nation.<\/p>\n<p> <!-- Missed: ad --> <\/p>\n<p>But earlier this month, DPH said only one sample of marijuana submitted to the state lab tested positive for fentanyl, and that it was likely caused by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ctinsider.com\/news\/article\/Dozens-of-CT-overdoses-were-falsely-linked-to-16821517.php\">\u201caccidental contamination\u201d<\/a> in an isolated incident.
