Nowadays, cannabis strains, or chemovars, are often categorized by their major cannabinoid content. There are three main types:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Type I: High concentrations of THC<\/li>\n<li>Type II: Equal levels of THC and CBD<\/li>\n<li>Type III: High levels of CBD<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"h-minor-cannabinoids\">Minor cannabinoids<\/h2>\n<p>More than 150 cannabinoids have been identified in cannabis, and counting. However, the vast majority of these are minor cannabinoids, which make up <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S2589004220304880\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">less than 1% of the cannabis bud<\/a>. Nevertheless, consumer and expert interest in minor cannabinoids has risen in recent years as many are curious about the untapped potential of these little-known cannabinoids.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Certain intoxicating minor cannabinoids, like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leafly.com\/news\/science-tech\/what-is-delta8-thc\">delta-8 THC<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leafly.com\/news\/cannabis-101\/what-is-delta-10\">delta-10 THC<\/a>, are fast developing a reputation for providing a high. These minor cannabinoids occur naturally in very low concentrations and are often synthesized from cannabinoids in hemp plants to sidestep legal issues.<\/p>\n<p>Researchers are also beginning to delve into the therapeutic properties of prominent minor cannabinoids, like THCV (tetrahydrocannabivarin), CBG (cannabigerol), and CBN (cannabinol).
