STAMFORD \u2014 A New York man facing felony assault charges for a 2020 stabbing had his bond hiked by $250,000 after he violated his house arrest to \u201csmoke marijuana,\u201d a state prosecutor said.<\/p>\n

Alan Lagunes, 19, was taken into custody by Stamford Superior Court marshals Wednesday afternoon following a negative report filed by his probation officer.<\/p>\n

Assistant State\u2019s Attorney Daniel Cummings said the officer reported that Lagunes, who faces a first-degree assault charge stemming from a April 2020 stabbing in Greenwich, told him \u201cwithout hesitation\u201d that he had violated court-ordered house arrest earlier this year in order to \u201cgo on a drive and smoke pot.\u201d<\/p>\n

Attorney Stephen Seeger, who represents Lagunes, said his client offered him a different description of the alleged violation.<\/p>\n

Seeger said his client simply went outside to his car in order to grab a baby seat for the mother of his child.<\/p>\n

Judge Gary White, however, sided with the sworn affidavit provided by the probation officer, and ordered a significant bond raise on Lagunes\u2019s file.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know that probation officer and he is credible,\u201d White said before raising the bond, which had previously been lowered to a promise to appear.<\/p>\n
