Police also said Laudano had consumed alcohol and used a marijuana vape pen before driving her cruiser with a baby and another person while on duty.<\/p>\n<p>The officers were charged with second-degree larceny and second-degree reckless endangerment in connection with the incident. Laudano was also charged with risk of injury to a minor. Both were placed on administrative leave without pay before <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehour.com\/news\/article\/Officers-accused-of-drinking-on-duty-resign-from-16546443.php\">resigning last fall<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p> <!-- Missed: ad --> <\/p>\n<p>The state council voted to decertify the officers on March 10 after Norwalk police shared the findings of its internal affairs investigation and arrest warrants filed in the criminal case, according to agency memorandums obtained by Hearst Connecticut Media Group.<\/p>\n<p> <!-- Missed: ad --> <\/p>\n<p>The department\u2019s internal probe, the memos show, found that DiMeglio knowingly consumed alcohol on duty, left his post, slept on duty and neglected his police responsibilities.<\/p>\n<p>The department also found that Laudano knowingly consumed alcohol on duty, transported civilians in her police vehicle after consuming alcohol, left her post, slept on duty and neglected her responsibilities, the documents show.<\/p>\n<p>The memos reveal that DiMeglio and Laudano waived their right to a hearing with the council and voluntarily surrendered their certifications.<\/p>\n<p>Kulhawik said the officers resigned before the department could formally conclude its internal investigation and hand down a punishment.<\/p>\n<p> <!-- Missed: ad --><\/p>\n<aside class=\"article--content-inline\">\n<aside class=\"zone\"> <!-- hearst\/home\/mostPopular.tpl --> <!--e hearst\/home\/mostPopular.tpl --><!-- src\/business\/widgets\/hearst\/collection\/widget.tpl --> <!-- e src\/business\/widgets\/hearst\/collection\/widget.tpl --><\/aside>\n<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cThere was no discipline issued outside the fact that they were suspended without pay pending the criminal case,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>State\u2019s Attorney Paul Ferencek said last week <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stamfordadvocate.com\/news\/article\/State-extends-plea-deal-to-former-Norwalk-cops-16992568.php\">the state offered DiMeglio and Laudano a deal to plead guilty<\/a> to a pair of misdemeanor charges and to pay a $1,000 fine in exchange for dropping the felony charge.<\/p>\n<p>The officers were expected to accept the offer at a remote hearing last week, but prosecutors asked the court to delay the proceedings to allow the state council to rule on the certification.<\/p>\n<p>Court records show DiMeglio is next scheduled to appear before a judge on March 24, while Laudano is set to appear April 21.<\/p>\n<p>Attorney Jessica Kordas, who represents DiMeglio, declined to comment. She previously said the former officer is now living out of state and is employed with a private company. Raymond Hassett, an attorney for Laudano, did not return a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>DiMeglio and Laudano are the first Norwalk police officers to have their certifications revoked in nearly 25 years.
