Once you&#8217;ve filled out the application, there is a mountain of paperwork that needs to be submitted. But for some cannabis capitalists, all the effort is worth it.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re going to hopefully be going in as a cultivator. And then there&#8217;s a whole lottery process for hopefully a delivery license. And hopefully a dispensary license,&#8221; said Wepa! Farms owner Luis Vega.<\/p>\n<p>Dispensaries are already open in Massachusetts. By the end of this year, there could be some open in Connecticut as well.<\/p>\n<p>Applications are now open for a retail dispensary, but the state is only giving out 12 licenses to start. Applicants have 90 days to apply.<\/p>\n<div class=\"block\">Connecticut&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/nam12.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fportal.ct.gov%2Fsocialequitycouncil%3Flanguage%3Den_US&amp;data=04%7C01%7CADELVECCHIO%40news12.com%7Cb5db263fe4cd44edd78108d9e767fb8f%7Ccf535dc073fc41eaa17417f37ced7fe7%7C0%7C0%7C637795256054705656%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000&amp;sdata=%2FVawpQKG%2B2IvzK%2B%2BkPtMZLvMwg0PJQ%2Fi0d4n3rqcqKo%3D&amp;reserved=0\">Social Equity Council<\/a> will decide who gets priority access, but so far it&#8217;s not even sure who will approve the applications yet.<\/div>\n<p>Wepa! Farms plans to apply for a Social Equity license.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our farm is in Shelton, our lab is in North Haven. I live out in Meriden. So, we&#8217;re all over the state. I would love something along the I-95, 91, corridor,&#8221; said Vega.<\/p>\n<p>There will be another round next year for anyone who does not get chosen this year.<\/p>\n<div class=\"block\">Applications<br \/>\ncan be found <a href=\"http:\/\/elicense.ct.gov\">here<\/a>, and must be completed through the<br \/>\nonline portal. Lottery applications will not be reviewed until after the<br \/>\nclose of the application window. There is no advantage to submitting a lottery<br \/>\napplication early.<\/p>\n<p>All individuals that are identified as backers associated<br \/>\nwith the cannabis establishment application must also complete a backer<br \/>\napplication before the close of the application window to ensure they are<br \/>\nconsidered as part of the application. <\/p>\n<p><b>Applications<br \/>\navailable as of February 3, 2022:<\/b><\/p>\n<div class=\"list\">\n<ul>\n<li>Lottery applications for adult-use cannabis retailers<\/li>\n<li>Non-lottery applications for Cultivators located in a Disproportionately Impacted Area (DIA)<\/li>\n<li>Equity Joint Ventures<\/li>\n<li>Non-lottery applications for conversion from Medical Marijuana Producer to Expanded Producer<\/li>\n<li>Non-lottery applications for conversion from Medical Marijuana Dispensary to Hybrid Retailer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>All lottery<br \/>\napplication periods and the application period for DIA Cultivators will be open<br \/>\nfor three months. There is no closing date for conversion applications or<br \/>\nEquity Joint Ventures.<\/p>\n<p><b>The remaining 90-day lottery application periods will open on<br \/>\nthe following schedule: <\/b><\/p>\n<div class=\"list\">\n<ul>\n<li>Micro-cultivator:&nbsp;February 10, 2022<\/li>\n<li>Delivery Service:&nbsp;February 17, 2022<\/li>\n<li>Hybrid Retailer:&nbsp;February 24, 2022<\/li>\n<li>Food and Beverage:&nbsp;March 3, 2022<\/li>\n<li>Product Manufacturer:&nbsp;March 10, 2022&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Product Packager:&nbsp;March 17, 2022<\/li>\n<li>Transporter:&nbsp;March 24, 2022<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>The department expects to open a second lottery application<br \/>\nperiod for most license types in the second half of 2022.
