When I\u2019m elected to Congress, I will propose legislation to legalize cannabis and expunge all non-violent marijuana arrests from the records. Our current state-by-state model is unworkable and leads to prison for far too many.\u201d<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span>New York Republican congressional candidate <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Santos4Congress\/status\/1508077871012749312\"><span>George Santos<\/span><\/a><span> authored an op-ed expressing concern that a federal marijuana legalization bill up for a House vote this week could preempt state criminalization laws.<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><b>\/ STATES<\/b><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GovMurphy\/status\/1508505986771922953\"><span>New Jersey<\/span><\/a><span> Gov. Phil Murphy (D) tweeted, \u201cFour years ago, I announced major reforms to expand access to medical cannabis. Michelle Lujan Grisham (D) tweeted, \u201cNew Mexico! This Friday we make history for our state with the legalization of recreational cannabis. By legalizing cannabis we are diversifying our economy, providing new opportunities for small businesses, entrepreneurs, and workers.\u201d Separately, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.santafenewmexican.com\/news\/local_news\/state-moldy-products-recalled-from-sacred-garden-cannabis-stores\/article_c5c93144-ac74-11ec-973b-afdb35a48dd1.html\"><span>regulators<\/span><\/a><span> recalled moldy medical cannabis products from Sacred Garden. And, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NMDOH\/status\/1508554442227924992\"><span>regulators<\/span><\/a><span> also posted about steps they are taking to ensure that medical cannabis supplies will be sufficient as the recreational market launches.<\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JohnCranley\/status\/1508517782887055360\"><span>Ohio<\/span><\/a><span> Democratic gubernatorial candidate John Cranley, a former Cincinnati mayor, tweeted, \u201cThere\u2019s shouldn\u2019t be a single Ohioan sitting in jail or struggling to get a job because of using marijuana.
