In short, over the last few years, Vegas has come of age as the best place in the country to see live sports.<\/p>\n<p>This is one of the reasons WNBA champion Chelsea Gray was seriously pumped when she was signed as a free agent by the<a class=\"LinkWrapper LinkWrapper--external\" href=\"https:\/\/eb2.3lift.com\/cd\/clk?bclid=8166&amp;bciid=517\"> Las Vegas Aces<\/a> in advance of the 2021 season. Gray previously spent four years playing for a pro team in Los Angeles, and a year in Connecticut.<\/p>\n<p>For the five-foot, 11-inch guard, coming to <a class=\"LinkWrapper LinkWrapper--external\" href=\"https:\/\/eb2.3lift.com\/cd\/clk?bclid=8168&amp;bciid=517\">Las Vegas<\/a> was somewhat of a homecoming.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m a West-Coast kid, born and raised,\u201d she said, referring to her childhood in Hayward, California. \u201cPlaying in Las Vegas, where I spent time as a kid playing in tournaments, it just feels like home.\u201d<\/p>\n<div>\n<figure class=\"PictureWrapper InlineImage InlineImage--with-credit\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" height=\"1080\" width=\"1920\" src=\"https:\/\/img.thedailybeast.com\/image\/upload\/c_crop,d_placeholder_euli9k,h_1080,w_1920,x_0,y_0\/dpr_1.5\/c_limit,w_690\/fl_lossy,q_auto\/Content_Dial_Vegas_PIcs_Q2_2022.002_ta0m2t\"><\/p>\n<div class=\"Caption\">\n<p><h4 class=\"Caption__credit-text\">Visit Las Vegas<\/h4>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure><\/div>\n<h3><strong>Las Vegas as a Sports Town<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>One year into suiting up for the Aces, Gray said she was \u201cblown away\u201d by how much Las Vegas has \u201cgrown up\u201d as a sports town. The way she sees it, the vibe is influenced by two distinct forces: the way locals have embraced the team, and the enthusiasm with which visitors turn out for their teams. Together, she added, this one-two punch creates a fervor that doesn\u2019t exist in many other sports markets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI like to think of<a class=\"LinkWrapper LinkWrapper--external\" href=\"https:\/\/eb2.3lift.com\/cd\/clk?bclid=8167&amp;bciid=517\"> Las Vegas<\/a> as a big small-town,\u201d Gray said. \u201cIt\u2019s a big city, but it\u2019s also a small community where everyone supports each other. Fans know their stuff. They have pride. If you\u2019re wearing \u2018Las Vegas\u2019 across your chest, they\u2019re going to support you because they waited for so long to have teams of their own. Kids growing up now will never know Las Vegas as anything but a sports town.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, the city\u2019s draw with vacationers is part of what makes it such an incredible city to play for. \u201cBecause Las Vegas is such a popular tourist destination, you have people from all over coming in,\u201d Gray said. \u201cThese people want to see sports in real-time. Young people regularly recognize her when she is out and about around the Vegas Valley. She added that when she interacts with fans before or after games at <a class=\"LinkWrapper LinkWrapper--external\" href=\"https:\/\/eb2.3lift.com\/cd\/clk?bclid=8170&amp;bciid=517\">The Michelob Ultra Arena<\/a> in the <a class=\"LinkWrapper LinkWrapper--external\" href=\"https:\/\/eb2.3lift.com\/cd\/clk?bclid=8171&amp;bciid=517\">Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino<\/a>, kids marvel at how they can interact with her.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, another perk of being a star athlete in Las Vegas is amazing food after the game.<\/p>\n<p>Gray\u2019s favorite food is lamb chops, and she loves the ones that were recently on the menu at <a class=\"LinkWrapper LinkWrapper--external\" href=\"https:\/\/eb2.3lift.com\/cd\/clk?bclid=8172&amp;bciid=517\">Zuma <\/a>in <a class=\"LinkWrapper LinkWrapper--external\" href=\"https:\/\/eb2.3lift.com\/cd\/clk?bclid=8173&amp;bciid=517\">The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas<\/a>. (If you\u2019re not into red meat, she also recommends the lobster.)<\/p>\n<p>When Gray goes out for dinner with teammates, they like to hit the Brazilian\/Japanese fusion <a class=\"LinkWrapper LinkWrapper--external\" href=\"https:\/\/eb2.3lift.com\/cd\/clk?bclid=8174&amp;bciid=517\">Sushi Samba<\/a> in the Grand Canal Shoppes at <a class=\"LinkWrapper LinkWrapper--external\" href=\"https:\/\/eb2.3lift.com\/cd\/clk?bclid=8175&amp;bciid=517\">The Venetian Resort Hotel &amp; Casino<\/a> for the eclectic flavors on the menu: sushi, robata, and more.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe truth is that you can\u2019t really go wrong with wherever you eat in Las Vegas,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s nice to be playing for a team in a city with so many great options.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gray said she and her teammates love getting together to watch games on TV and drink adult beverages at the <a class=\"LinkWrapper LinkWrapper--external\" href=\"https:\/\/eb2.3lift.com\/cd\/clk?bclid=8176&amp;bciid=517\">Stage Door Casino<\/a>, an old-school dive bar on Linq Lane across the street from <a class=\"LinkWrapper LinkWrapper--external\" href=\"https:\/\/eb2.3lift.com\/cd\/clk?bclid=8177&amp;bciid=517\">Bally\u2019s Las Vegas<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div>\n<figure class=\"PictureWrapper InlineImage InlineImage--with-credit\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" height=\"1080\" width=\"1920\" src=\"https:\/\/img.thedailybeast.com\/image\/upload\/c_crop,d_placeholder_euli9k,h_1080,w_1920,x_0,y_0\/dpr_1.5\/c_limit,w_690\/fl_lossy,q_auto\/Content_Dial_Vegas_PIcs_Q2_2022.003_jedahx\"><\/p>\n<div class=\"Caption\">\n<p><h4 class=\"Caption__credit-text\">Visit Las Vegas<\/h4>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure><\/div>\n<h3><strong>Hoops For All<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Of course, Gray is a baller, which means she\u2019s always going to have opinions about where to shoot hoops.<\/p>\n<p>While Gray admitted she isn\u2019t an expert on public outdoor courts, she<em> has <\/em>sampled several of Las Vegas\u2019 finest pop-a-shot hoops. One of her favorite places to play? <a class=\"LinkWrapper LinkWrapper--external\" href=\"https:\/\/eb2.3lift.com\/cd\/clk?bclid=8178&amp;bciid=517\">Level Up<\/a>, a sports lounge between Hakkasan nightclub and the BetMGM Sportsbook at <a class=\"LinkWrapper LinkWrapper--external\" href=\"https:\/\/eb2.3lift.com\/cd\/clk?bclid=8179&amp;bciid=517\">MGM Grand<\/a>.
