{"id":5734,"date":"2022-07-30T00:32:01","date_gmt":"2022-07-30T00:32:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thcinct.com\/summer-commencement-speaker-trumpets-power-to-change-the-world\/"},"modified":"2022-07-30T00:32:01","modified_gmt":"2022-07-30T00:32:01","slug":"summer-commencement-speaker-trumpets-power-to-change-the-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thcinct.com\/?p=5734","title":{"rendered":"Summer commencement speaker trumpets power \u2018to change the world\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<h3>Summer graduates include:<\/h3>\n<p> Eric Rosano, a Philadelphia native who earned a Ph.D.  in accounting<\/p>\n<p><strong data-wp-editing=\"1\">Eric Rosano<\/strong>, a Philadelphia native who earned a Ph.D.  in accounting<\/p>\n<p>Rosano adds to life experiences that include a stint as an accounting professor at Arizona State University;  service in the US Army;  participation in a Military Intelligence immersion program in Mandarin, in which he is communicative;  and collaboration on a company, Mythulu, which it says aims to &#8220;stabilize and expand the storytelling industry.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He has also written an unpublished science fiction novel, making him a champion of both numbers and letters.<\/p>\n<p>Allen Blay, chair of the College of Business&#8217; Accounting Department, calls Rosano &#8220;one of the most fascinating and good students I&#8217;ve ever met.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Rosano and his wife, Olivia, hosted children for the first half of his five years in the doctoral program and plan to do so again. He has done so through FSU's Combined Pathways program.\" width=\"341\" height=\"512\" srcset=\"https:\/\/news.fsu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/CadynBadeaux-2-341x512.jpg 341w, https:\/\/news.fsu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/CadynBadeaux-2.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 341px) 100vw, 341px\"\/>Cadyn Badeaux, who earned a master&#8217;s degree in criminology at age 20.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We decided that the path we would choose would be foster care because there are a lot of kids who need it,&#8221; Rosano said.  &#8220;They&#8217;re in a situation of need, and it&#8217;s only made worse by the unmet need in this country to take care of children.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A five-year focus on doctoral studies has meant less focus on earnings, so he fully embraces his acceptance of an assistant professorship at New York-based Queens College, where he will teach accounting starting in the fall.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m glad I have a position,&#8221; Rosano said, adding with a laugh, &#8220;I didn&#8217;t do it to fall back. It&#8217;s important to feel like the education is at least worth it right now, meaning you have a job , and I&#8217;m excited about it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cadyn Badeaux<\/strong>who earned a master&#8217;s degree in criminology at age 20.  He has done so through FSU&#8217;s Combined Pathways Program, which offers accelerated study toward a master&#8217;s degree as an undergraduate.<\/p>\n<p>He earned his bachelor&#8217;s degree in criminology in the fall of 2021. He is now embarking on a career in the US Army. He did so in hopes of one day earning a doctorate in forensic anthropology to help locate and identify missing persons.<\/p>\n<p>His academic achievements include the completion of an honors thesis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love the anthropology and psychology departments and the relationships I built with my professors and peers,\u201d Maki said.  &#8220;I will greatly miss conducting research with both departments, as they were incredible environments to be a part of.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She added, &#8220;I am very grateful for the opportunities FSU has provided me.
