{"id":6246,"date":"2022-08-03T13:12:11","date_gmt":"2022-08-03T13:12:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thcinct.com\/heat-advisory-issued-for-thursday-record-breaking-temps-possible\/"},"modified":"2022-08-03T13:12:11","modified_gmt":"2022-08-03T13:12:11","slug":"heat-advisory-issued-for-thursday-record-breaking-temps-possible","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thcinct.com\/?p=6246","title":{"rendered":"Heat advisory issued for Thursday, record-breaking temps possible"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) &#8211; Record temperatures are possible Thursday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The National Weather Service issued a statewide heat advisory for both Thursday and Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Channel 3 also issued an early warning weather alert for the dangerous combination of heat and humidity on both days.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">&#8220;It&#8217;s warmer under mostly sunny skies, with temperatures reaching the mid to high 90s Thursday,&#8221; meteorologist Scot Haney said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">For August 4th in the Hartford area, the record high temperature is 96.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">&#8220;It&#8217;s probably going to break, we&#8217;re currently forecasting 98,&#8221; Haney said.  &#8220;To hit 100 is not out of the realm of possibility.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">For Bridgeport, the record is 93 in 1995.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">&#8220;This one might be close,&#8221; Haney said.  &#8220;In any case, and with the humidity coming back with a vengeance, heat index values \u200b\u200bshould reach 100-105!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Friday looked like more of the same, albeit a few degrees cooler thanks to some clouds moving across the region.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">&#8220;While it may not be as hot on Friday, the humidity will be higher, so heat index values \u200b\u200bcould go up to 105 again,&#8221; Haney said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Governor Ned Lamont enacted Connecticut&#8217;s Extremely Hot Weather Protocol, which allows state and local agencies to work together to get vulnerable people out of the heat.  Anyone in need of a cooling center can dial 2-1-1 or go <a href=\"https:\/\/www.211ct.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">211ct.org<\/a> and United Way can help find a location.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">There is also a chance of late storms on Friday.
