The 2022 World Junior Championships begin later this week after the tournament was postponed from its original dates in December\/January due to the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n
And a handful of Chicago Blackhawks prospects learned this weekend that they will represent their countries in the tournament.<\/p>\n
Team USA announced its final roster Sunday afternoon: <\/p>\n
Three of these names should be familiar:<\/p>\n
Forward Dominic James (2022 sixth-round pick, 173rd overall) Forward Landon Slaggert (2020 third-round pick, 79th overall) Defenseman Wyatt Kaiser (2020 third-round pick, 81st the general)<\/p>\n
Slaggert will be too sporting an “A”<\/a> on the American side: <\/p>\n However, with a slight kill, forward Frank Nazar, Chicago’s 13th overall pick in this year’s draft. NHL Draft<\/a> \u2014 was among the final cuts for Team USA:<\/p>\n The last two cuts of the US team ahead of the World Juniors: \u2014 Scott Wheeler (@scottcwheeler) August 7, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n The good news for Nazar is that he should be on Team USA’s roster for the next one Junior World Cup<\/a>which will arrive in just over four months. <\/p>\n In Canada, a Blackhawks prospect was a late addition to the roster after injury Minnesota Wild<\/a> Daemon Hunt prospectus:<\/p>\n Hockey Canada has announced that Daemon Hunt (MIN) is unable to participate in the Junior World Championships due to injury. He will be replaced by Ethan Del Mastro (CHI).<\/p>\n Heartbreaking for Hunt, who misses his second straight World Cup through injury. He can’t seem to shake the wound bug.<\/p>\n
