{"id":7239,"date":"2022-08-11T23:19:13","date_gmt":"2022-08-11T23:19:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thcinct.com\/breaking-news-cdc-relaxes-covid-19-guidance\/"},"modified":"2022-08-11T23:19:13","modified_gmt":"2022-08-11T23:19:13","slug":"breaking-news-cdc-relaxes-covid-19-guidance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thcinct.com\/?p=7239","title":{"rendered":"Breaking News: CDC Relaxes COVID-19 Guidance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<h2>While acknowledging that the United States is still in a pandemic, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) this afternoon announced revised guidance related to COVID-19.<\/h2>\n<p>&#8220;This guidance recognizes that the pandemic is not over, but also helps us move to a point where COVID-19 no longer severely disrupts our daily lives,&#8221; Greta Massetti, PhD, MPH, MMWR, said in a statement from the CDC.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Today we are in a stronger place as a nation, with more tools, including vaccinations, boosters and treatments, to protect ourselves and our communities from serious illness from COVID-19,&#8221; Massetti said.  &#8220;We also have a better understanding of how to protect people from exposure to the virus, such as wearing high-quality masks, testing and improved ventilation.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>New CDC Covid guidance<\/h3>\n<p>The CDC has updated its guidance <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/media\/releases\/2022\/p0811-covid-guidance.html\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow external noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>.  This update includes information on the importance of being up-to-date on vaccines;  advice on when and how long to self-isolate if you test positive for COVID-19;  and when to wear a high-quality mask.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This updated guidance is intended to apply in the community setting,&#8221; a CDC statement said.  &#8220;In the coming weeks, CDC will work to align stand-alone guidance documents, such as those for healthcare settings, grouping environments at higher risk of transmission, and travel, with today&#8217;s update.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In the US, more than 1 million people have died from COVID-19 since it appeared in early 2020. As of August 11, 2022, more than 60,000 new cases of COVID-19 are diagnosed in the US every day , more than 400 people.  die of COVID-19 daily and more than 40,000 people are hospitalized with the virus every day.  The CDC currently ranks COVID-19 as the third leading cause <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/nchs\/fastats\/leading-causes-of-death.htm\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow external noopener noreferrer\">Cause of death<\/a> in the US, after heart disease and cancer and, above all, combined accidents.  According to a US Government Accountability Office <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gao.gov\/products\/gao-22-105666\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow external noopener noreferrer\">report<\/a>up to 23 million Americans had experienced long-term COVID symptoms, such as loss of taste or smell, brain fog, fatigue, breathing problems and more, when the report was published in March 2022,<\/p>\n<h4>[MASSAGE Magazine wants to know what you think of the CDC\u2019s new guidance related to COVID-19.
