It was a special day for some little league players in Wilmington. Naaman’s Little League team was just one win away from advancing to the Little League World Series.<\/p>\n
WILMINGTON, Del.<\/strong> – <\/span>It was a special day for some little league players in Wilmington. Naaman’s Little League team is just one win away from advancing to the Little League World Series.<\/p>\n At Stanley’s Tavern, dozens of people cheered on their favorite little league team, taking on Holidaysburg in the national spotlight. In Delaware, the players feel more like family than friends.<\/p>\n “Everybody feels a family connection with the players and two of the parents are personal friends of mine. One of whom I played with in a Naamans Little League. So we all feel a part. The whole area is very excited,” explained Newcastle. County Executive Matt Meyer.<\/p>\n “For a small state, you know, that’s a big deal for us. I think we’re really disrespected in the tri-state area,” fan Mike Querey commented.<\/p>\n “Any time you see Delaware on a national stage, it’s a big deal. Especially from a high school situation. Because it just doesn’t happen very often,” fan Max Drzymalski said.<\/p>\n But despite a valiant effort, the boys fell short, losing seven to three. Receiver Luke Luzader’s aunt and uncle say they are obviously disappointed, but very proud of him and the entire team.<\/p>\n “They’re a great bunch of guys. The parents are great. They’re always cheering for everybody, even the other team, which is nice. But, it’s sad. They worked really hard, but it wasn’t their game.” , said Melissa Costa.<\/p>\n “Not many kids at their age can say they’ve been where they’ve been. They’ve done well and they’re young. They’ll do better, I have faith in them,” added Mike Costa.<\/p>\n
