The preliminary round is over. The rest of the 2022 World Juniors is simple: survive and advance. <\/p>\n

The knockout phase of the tournament begins on Wednesday, as the field has been trimmed slightly from 10 teams to eight. After a week of competition in group play, the top four teams in each group advance to play for a medal. <\/p>\n

There weren’t too many surprises in the preliminary round, with Canada, the USA, Sweden and Finland making the top four teams as expected. However, we were in for a huge upset as Latvia picked up their first win in the preliminary round at the World Juniors, which saw the Czech Republic clinch the third seed in Pool A. <\/p>\n

With the win, it knocked Slovakia out of medal contention, joining Austria as the only two teams not to advance to the knockout stage. <\/p>\n

How to watch the Junior World Cup 2022 on TV, live<\/strong><\/h2>\n

TSN and the NHL Network will once again be home to all the action for the 2022 World Juniors.<\/p>\n

American audiences can watch the games live on television on the NHL Network or stream them via fuboTV. <\/p>\n

EJ Hradek will provide play-by-play assignments for all games with Team USA. He will be joined on the broadcasts by analyst Dave Starman and reporter Jon Rosen. <\/p>\n

World Youth Ranking 2022<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Team Canada and Team USA went a perfect 4-0-0-0, earning the top spots in their respective pools. <\/p>\n

Finland were the only other team to record multiple wins in Group A, earning two wins in regulation and a shootout win to finish in second place. Latvia’s ill-fated win over the Czech Republic moved them up to third, knocking out the Czech Republic at No. 4 and Slovakia out of a quarter-final spot. <\/p>\n

In Group B, Sweden finished second after losing only to the USA. Germany secured third place with wins over Switzerland and Austria, while the Swiss punched their ticket to the quarter-finals with a win over the Austrians. <\/p>\n

No team will be relegated, so the same 10 countries will compete again in December at the 2023 tournament. <\/p>\n

Where are the Junior World Cup 2022 being held?<\/h2>\n

Location:<\/strong> Edmonton, Alberta
\n\tPlace:<\/strong> Rogers Square<\/p>\n

The 2022 World Junior Championships will take place in Edmonton, Alberta. All games will be played at Rogers Place, home of the NHL’s Edmonton Oilers. It is the first time since 1988 that there are no multiple host cities. <\/p>\n

In December of last year, when the 2022 tournament originally began, it was set for both Edmonton and Red Deer. The games were split between Rogers Place and Peavey Mart Centrum in Red Deer, home of the WHL’s Red Deer Rebels. <\/p>\n

Before the COVID-19 pandemic hit, the 2022 tournament was scheduled to be held in Gothenburg, Sweden. However, it was changed to Edmonton in September 2020, due to the restrictions put in place with COVID-19. Instead, Gothenburg was reassigned to the 2024 tournament.<\/p>\n

This year is Edmonton’s fourth time hosting the Junior World Games, having previously hosted in 1995, 2012 and 2021. <\/p>\n
