Two Connecticut men arrested in Springfield for attempting to steal car parts

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) – Two Connecticut men were arrested in Springfield after firefighters allegedly saw them trying to steal auto parts.

Police said around 4:45 p.m. Thursday, Stephen Baker, 32, and Timothy McDonald, 33, both of Simsbury, were arrested on Wilbraham Road.

They said that prior to the arrests, Springfield firefighters stationed on Eastern Avenue saw the suspects under a vehicle believed to be attempting to steal a catalytic converter.

During the arrests, officers located a GPS tracking device, a cutting tool, a screwdriver, a knife, a power drill and an impact gun.

Baker and McDonald face charges including attempted larceny under $1,200, attempt to commit a felony, possession of burglary tools and attempted malicious damage to a motor vehicle.
