A South Carolina bill to permit the use of investigational drugs for patients during epidemic or pandemic outbreaks was amended on Wednesday to specifically add marijuana as a treatment option. Pennington Borough Council met last week to hear applications from businesses seeking a Resolution of Support to operate a retail cannabis business. Three businesses vied for Council approval to secure the only retail cannabis license Pennington will issue: Jersey Meds, Fine Fettle, and Cannique. The Council stated their decision would be announced at the regular meeting Monday, March 7. Since cannabis was first legalized and taxed in Colorado and Washington in 2012, states where adult-use marijuana sales are legal accumulated nearly $10.4 billion in additional tax revenue. In 2021 alone, states gathered more than $3 billion in additional revenue, according to a recent study published by the Marijuana Policy Project (MPP). Cannabis advocates in Connecticut are pushing back on a bill that would ban the promotional giveaway of pot. They claim it could recriminalize marijuana for those who depend on free samples for medical reasons. One of the advocates is Douglas Moore. He was born without arms and legs.
