South Carolina Lawmakers Add Marijuana Access To Investigational Drug Bill As House Considers Broader Reform – Marijuana Moment

A South Carolina bill to permit the use of investigational drugs for patients during epidemic or pandemic outbreaks was amended on Wednesday to specifically add marijuana as a treatment option. This comes about a month after the state Senate approved a separate, broader medical cannabis legalization bill that’s set to be taken up by the House of Representatives. The Health and Environmental Affairs Subcommittee of the House Medical, Military, Public and Municipal Affairs Committee held a hearing on the investigational drug bill from Rep. Melissa Lackey Oremus (R) on Wednesday. And while time constraints meant that members were not able…

Let’s Legalize America! – Norml

Since our founding in 1970, we’ve had one primary goal: to LEGALIZE America. With your support, we have been able to successfully fight back against our nation’s failed policy of marijuana prohibition. Colorado and Washington became the first states to approve marijuana legalization in 2012. Now we now have a total of 18 states (and DC!) that have ended the practice of criminalizing adult marijuana consumers and, instead, have implemented regulated retail sales. In 2021 alone, we added five new states: New Jersey, New York, Virginia, New Mexico, and Connecticut. At the beginning of this year, we told you that…

The biggest piece of this billion-dollar cake is from California, which gathered more than $1 billion in tax revenue alone due to its massive customer base—MPP recorded $976 million between January and September alone. Second is Washington state, which gathered more than $500 million, followed by Illinois with $387 million….

Connecticut marijuana advocates push back on bill that would ban free pot promotions – WSHU

Cannabis advocates in Connecticut are pushing back on a bill that would ban the promotional giveaway of pot. They claim it could recriminalize marijuana for those who depend on free samples for medical reasons. One of the advocates is Douglas Moore. He was born without arms and legs. At a hearing of the General Law Committee, he told lawmakers that he’s on a fixed income and can barely afford to pay for his medical marijuana prescription. Moore said that’s why he depends on gifts from friends who grow pot. “For me to be actually a normal person like all of…
