A Connecticut man who was stopped by New York State Police on I-95 in Westchester for a traffic violation was busted with more than a pound of marijuana in his car, authorities announced. Troopers on patrol on I-95 in Mamaroneck stopped Hartford County resident Angel Rodriguez, Jr., age 29, of Rocky Hill, when he committed a vehicle and traffic violation in the area. The new state law went into effect July 1, 2021 and legalizes adult recreational cannabis use and retail sales. The state’s Department of Consumer Protection will allow recreational sales in CT to begin sometime in late 2022. The deadline to submit laws to the state’s Office of Cannabis Management is Dec. 31. Towns that opted out on Long Island include Hempstead, Oyster Bay, Smithtown, Islip, East Hampton and Shelter Island.
