Yesterday morning, hundreds applied for licenses after New Jersey began taking applications which include recreational facilities. In April of this year, a medical dispensary in Neptune opened its doors. Zen Leaf became only one of a few shore area dispensaries offering medical marijuana and that will change soon. Last week, New Jersey awarded 30 new licenses to medical facilities more than doubling the current number of 23 operating. Applications for dispensaries will begin to be accepted in March. Towns that want to opt out of recreational marijuana sales have until end of year to inform state – News 12 Westchester

The deadline to submit laws to the state’s Office of Cannabis Management is Dec. 31. Towns that opted out on Long Island include Hempstead, Oyster Bay, Smithtown, Islip, East Hampton and Shelter Island. Towns that have decided they will allow recreational weed include Riverhead, Babylon and Brookhaven.
