Texas still hasn’t given up on trying to ban smokable hemp. The state of the smokable products have been in limbo ever since last August. The fight to keep these products legal in the state has gone all the way to the Texas Supreme Court. After district courts decided the ban was illegal, the state’s Department of State Health Services filed a notice of appeal to the ruling in the Texas Supreme Court on Dec. 1. LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – Michigan poison control officials have issued a warning about possible cases of fentanyl-laced marijuana in the state, calling it as a potential “emerging health threat.” The Michigan Poison and Drug Information Center issued the alert, saying several patients outside of Michigan have been treated in emergency rooms for opioid exposure after patients claimed to have only smoked marijuana. In Connecticut, a sample of one of the marijuana products found at an overdose scene was seized by local law enforcement and tested at a state laboratory. When U.S. states and municipalities burn through their federal coronavirus relief money, taxes on legal weed will help blunt the budget pain. Cannabis tax revenue generated more than $2 billion in the U.S. last year and that could grow to $10 billion to $12 billion for states by 2030, exceeding tax revenue from alcohol, according to municipal-bond strategists at Barclays. By Katryna Perera (December 3, 2021, 3:57 PM EST) — The cannabis panel of the U.S. Pharmacopeia has pressed for more testing of Delta-8 THC, saying in a recent commentary that “it’s time to hold cannabinoid products to the highest standard.” The USP is a nonprofit scientific organization that sets quality standards for medicines, dietary supplements and food ingredients worldwide.
