Republican challenger takes lead over Bristol mayor incumbent – WFSB
(WFSB) – It was busy day across the state on this Election Day, with many races being watched by people across the state. In Bristol, official votes are still being counted, but there could be some change in the city. Republican challenger Jeffrey Caggiano is holding a lead as of Tuesday evening, with 6,870 votes. Democratic Mayor Ellen Zoppo-Sassu was seeking another term. Unofficial results Tuesday evening showed her with 6,270. She became the first woman elected mayor of Bristol in 2017. Connecticut will likely see a flood of applicants interested in selling adult-use recreational marijuana, and the number of available licenses could impact the price of the product, a presenter told a state board Tuesday. In Washington, officials did not allocate enough time between licensing producers and licensing retailers, which led to an initial cannabis shortage followed by an oversaturated market, Rick Garza, director of Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board, told Connecticut’s Social Equity Council. NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — With the legalization of recreational cannabis for adults and the impending start of retail sales next year, several Connecticut coastal towns are saying no, for now.
