WESTPORT, CT — A new CBD store is opening in Westport’s downtown shopping district.
Franny’s Farmacy is scheduled to hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at its Church Lane location on Thursday, owner/operator Griff Conti announced.
The store specializes in “a full line of CBD and hemp oils, CBD topicals, hemp edibles, women’s, baby, and pet lines of hemp and CBD products, hemp flower, CBD-infused coffee and tea, and more.”
Conti has a background in the cannabis business, and said he hopes area residents enjoy the health benefits of CBD, which is short for cannabidiol. CBD is a chemical compound from hemp that is not psychoactive, meaning it will not make you high.
“As a native of Fairfield County, I am excited to bring education about the Cannabis plant to inform and inspire the quality of life of our community members by using hemp as a health and wellness tool, especially during these trying times,” Conti said in a statement. “We are here to serve the Westport community and its surrounding areas for years to come.”
The Westport store is one of a chain of seven Franny’s Farmacy shops in the United States, five of which are in North Carolina or South Carolina. It was founded in 2018 by Franny and Jeff Tacy, who both had farming backgrounds; Franny will be on-hand for a live Q&A following the 2 p.m. ribbon-cutting on the 18th.
According to the company, Franny’s Farmacy “provides safe access to high-quality, locally grown, sown, and produced hemp straight from Franny’s Farm and their growers located in the Asheville, NC area to customers in all 50 states.”
