LAHORE: Former Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Friday that to provide substantial relief to the people of Punjab, priority will be given to early completion of development projects started during the tenure of his government.
“The Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) project and the Central Business District (CBD) project are a true game changer that can bring about a revolutionary change in the socio-economic condition of Punjab province and its people “, he stated.
Imran Khan said this while addressing a high-level meeting of the CBD and RUDA through a video link. The meeting was presided over by Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi and was attended by former federal ministers Fawad Chaudhry, Moonis Elahi, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Farrukh Habib, Dr. Shahbaz Gill, Asad Umar and RUDA President Imran Amin.
Imran Khan said, “We would leave no stone unturned to ensure timely completion of development projects like RUDA and CBD because such public interest projects cannot be left in the middle.” He said that the Punjab government had received instructions in this regard.

He said there was no parallel case available in the current history of the way the present “imported” government had wreaked havoc with the country’s economy.
He added that the Punjab government under his leadership would launch a number of new public welfare projects for the betterment of the people of the province.
Addressing the gathering, the Punjab Chief Minister said that to ensure transparency in public welfare projects and schemes, the Punjab government would develop a comprehensive and foolproof monitoring system, adding that “ I myself would regularly monitor the progress of these projects.”
Indeed, it is in the people’s best interest that these projects reach completion as soon as possible, he said. The Chief Minister said that to tackle the problem of unemployment and bring foreign investment to the province, it was necessary that the development work of the public welfare projects and programs should be completed on time.
On the occasion, former Prime Minister Imran directed RUDA and CBD chief Imran Amin to improve the pace of work on the projects.
