Many of us do not have dental insurance to pay for routine cleanings and whitening.
News 12 consumer reporter Janice Lieberman has The Real Deal on a new way to pay for dental care.
It sounds too good to be true. Pay $200 a year for unlimited cleaning and whitening. A new subscription service is coming to the tri-state area with plans to open more.
Tyle Burnett came up with the idea hi wally, a subscription-based dental care. It’s a proactive approach, not accepting insurance.
“So what we’ve done at Wally is cut out the middleman, cut out the middleman, cut out the insurance, and that’s really allowed us to focus on providing proactive preventative care to patients at a fraction of the cost, because we don’t have to play the game the insurance wants us to play, which could drive up costs,” says Burnett.
The downside, patients cannot be treated for emergency work, crowns, fillings and cosmetic dentistry. Wally will take diagnostic x-rays and refer you to a dentist or clinic.
Patients who cannot afford to see a dentist for treatment can try going to dental school clinics like NYU and being treated by a student at a discount.
Wally Health is measuring its success and plans to open more centers in New York City and Brooklyn. They tell News 12 patients come from Long Island, Connecticut and New Jersey to take advantage of the subscription.
