A CBD store in Bridgeport was shot up last month.
NORWICH, Conn. – Police in Norwich are looking for two people they say broke into a CBD store this week.
The owner believes their business was targeted because of the products they sell.

“Five weeks later, boom out the window,” said Brian Vertefeuille.
This isn’t the first time a Greenleaf Farms store has been vandalized, as a store in Bridgeport was shot up last month.
Brian Vertefeuille said he believes CBD stores are being targeted.
“Everyone thinks that because weed is legal now and it’s good and legal to consume, CBD stores are selling it and that’s not the case at all,” Vertefeuille said.

The owner said whoever came in took stuff, thinking it was marijuana but actually CBD. So what’s the difference?
“There is a threshold for CTC content which is 0.3 percent. Anything below that threshold is considered hemp, which is what CBD is derived from, and anything above that threshold is considered cannabis. “said cannabis advocate Louis Rinadli.

More than 15,000 applications have been submitted to sell cannabis in Connecticut. These applications are for new cannabis stores. Medical marijuana is not sold in CBD stores. But retail sales are expected to begin in the state later this year. However, that doesn’t mean all stores sell it.
So the owner’s message is simple: “We are a health and wellness store, Greenleaf Farms. And we’re here to help people, so CBD, muscle relaxants, anything that can basically affect the C1 and C2 receptors in your body is what we’re selling, not marijuana,” Vertefeuille said.
