SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – After weeks of trade rumors, the San Diego Padres on Tuesday morning finalized a deal to acquire star shortstop Juan Soto from the Washington Nationals.

The Padres Package Deal: Pitcher McKenzie Gore, SS CJ Abrams, OF Robert Hassell III, Pitcher James Wood, Pitcher Jarlin Susana and DH Luke Voit for Juan Soto and Josh Bell.

On Tuesday, Pare 1B Eric Hosmer had a no-trade clause in his contract that said he could not be traded to the Nationals. While deliberating, the Padres decided to trade Hosmer to the Boston Red Sox.
