Celebrate International Blues Day in this hidden CBD basement venue

Blues in the Basement is putting on a killer blues gig at Beneath Driver Lane for International Blues Day.

Beneath Driver Lane is hosting a party to celebrate International Blues Day on Sunday 7th August from 5pm until midnight. With the evening’s line-up including some of the best names in Melbourne’s blues scene including Checkerboard Lounge, Mike Elrington, Hesse Redwing Trio and an all-star jam featuring BDL artists such as Zevon and Iseula, it’s a of 15 dollars.

Under Driver Lane is organizing an afternoon and night of celebrations for International Blues Day. They have some killer names on the lineup and tickets are only $15 at the door. It will take place this Sunday, August 7 from 5:00 p.m. to midnight.

Tucked away in the basement of Driver Lane is the city’s only dedicated blues bar; Under the driver’s lane. It transports you to another place and time, with its decor inspired by the smoky and blue basements of New York, Paris, New Orleans and San Francisco. They also have a special new and limited whiskey club for whiskey aficionados called “The Basement Barrel Society”.

International Blues Day is celebrated on the first Sunday of August. Celebrating the blues art form worldwide, it was founded by blues musician Johnny Childs in 2011. Since then it has been celebrated worldwide, and what better place to celebrate than the one and only bar of blues dedicated to the city?
