Leandro Lo: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu world champion dies after being shot in the head by ‘off-duty policeman’ at gig | World News

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Champion Leandro Lo has died after being shot in the head.

The 33-year-old man was at a concert in São Paulo when he got into a fight with another man.

He was taken to hospital but declared brain dead a few hours later.

Lo was one of the most successful Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu athletes of all time, having won eight world championships as a black belt since 2012.

According to local media, an off-duty military policeman has been arrested on suspicion of shooting the fighter.

The altercation allegedly began after the suspect entered Lo’s circle of friends and tried to provoke him by making threatening gestures with a glass bottle.

It is claimed that Lo later pinned him down and bystanders separated the pair just before the shooting took place.
