Mamaroneck police have arrested a Queens man who is suspected of several robberies in Connecticut.
Early Monday morning, an officer saw a suspicious car idling with its lights off outside a business on East Boston Post Road, according to police.
When the officer approached, they immediately left.
A short time later, the officer found the same car had crashed near North Barry Avenue and First Street, but no one was inside.
News 12 is told those officers, and others from Larchmont, Peekskill and the MTA worked together and searched the area, finding the suspect hiding in someone’s yard.
They arrested the man, identified as Rickford Vyphuis, and discovered the car had been stolen from New York City earlier this month and was wanted for several thefts in Connecticut.
When officers searched the car, they found the thieves’ tools including crowbars and hammers.
Vyphuis now faces numerous charges.
