A stroll around Lubbock would show several businesses offering CBD and Delta 8. Lubbock’s newest bakery is jumping on the trend by offering baked goods with CBD and hemp, along with dozens of options.
Samantha Beach, owner of Texas Sweet Box, has been a pastry chef since 2016 and previously owned a bakery in San Antonio. He also has a heart condition and started using CBD to help, with his doctor’s approval.
Those experiences, along with planning for the new store while he had COVID-19 in 2021, led to his latest venture: Texas Sweet Box, a Lubbock bakery with freshly baked goods incorporated into the CBD, which opened at 2614 130 St. Suite 68 in July. 25.
The products contain CBD or hemp, although they can be made without. Items can also be made vegan and gluten and sugar free. Beach is also in the process of getting Delta 8 for freight.

“We do everything in house, as I leave nothing to chance,” Beach said. “It can be extensive, but I want to have something for everyone. Customers often say we do like grandmas.”
Mentioning grandmothers, Beach uses her grandmother’s candy recipe, which she can make in a variety of flavors. Beach also brought back some of its San Antonio flair with 30 flavors of edible cookie dough, which was the old location’s specialty.
“It’s been pretty steady, business-wise,” he said. “We have interest, but I think because cannabis and hemp have a bad reputation of being banned for so long, everybody wants to see what’s going to happen before they go in.”
Beach hopes to combat that perception with educational events. He discussed the science behind cannabinoids, how they can help with pain and anxiety, and the difference between CBD, hemp, and Delta 8.
“We’re going to let the public come in and learn about CBD and how it reacts in our bodies,” he said. “It’s natural. Hops and hemp plants are in the same family. I love the science behind it and the brewing.”
Beach hopes to introduce savory breakfast items, an Italian soda bar, open more locations and have more ideas for the future. Texas Sweet Box is also working to have the sweets in local vape shops.
