A Connecticut teenager was accidentally shot by his father Friday afternoon while the older man was telling him about guns, authorities said.
Police said the 17-year-old, whose name along with his father’s was not released, he suffered a gunshot wound on the shoulder just after 3 p.m. Friday in Meriden, about 22 miles southwest of Hartford, the Hartford Courant reports.
“The father planned to familiarize his son with firearms to begin firearms training at a local gun range in the near future,” Meriden police said in a statement at the time of the incident
Authorities said the teenager was taken to a hospital before being taken to a trauma center, but did not provide additional information about his condition.
An investigation is reportedly ongoing.
