Legendary NFL quarterback Brett Favre had many accomplishments throughout his long career.
Although the Hall of Fame quarterback only suffered a couple of official concussions, he believes the real number is significantly higher.
Favre revealed that he believes he suffered thousands of concussions throughout his NFL career.
“Concussions happen all the time,” Favre said The Bubba Army radio program “You get hit and your head hits the turf, you see flashes of light or ringing in your ears, but you can play, that’s a concussion.”
“So, based on that, [I’ve suffered] thousands,” he continued. “It had to be, because every time my head hit the turf, there were sounds or stars, light bulbs … but I could still play.”
If that’s true, let’s hope Favre is doing his best to take care of his brain in retirement.
“He’s probably referring to microconcussions, which are when the brain hits the skull without any major signs of concussion, but still damages the brain over time. It’s believed that a player can suffer more than 1,000 in a single season.” , one fan wrote.
“Bret was a high volume player who played openly all the time and in his later years you could tell something was wrong with him, not physically but by his demeanor, attitude and the faraway look in his eyes! one of the best players in the Football QB in history,” another fan added.
“Brett had close to 11,000 attempts in the 1990s and 2000s in the NFL being sacked over 500 times, so he might be right,” one fan added on social media.
Stay healthy, Brett.
