Shortly after agreeing to a “divorce contract“With the Los Angeles Sparks, Australian WNBA star Liz Cambage announced she will be stepping away from the league ‘for now.’
In one Instagram post, Cambage apologized for leaving the Sparks the way he did, saying he wished it had ended differently before diving into his decision.
I have decided to step away from the league for now and am hopeful that the WNBA will do its part to create safer environments and a stronger support system for its players. … I will use this time to focus on my healing and personal growth before clearing up the rumors of the past.
The world of sport reacted to Cambage’s surprising news.
“Saw it coming,” tweeted Marcus Spears. “I hope he gets to a good place.”
“Liz Cambage breaks with the league that already broke with her,” commented one user.
“She went from nice to out of a job in less than a year.”
In 25 games with the Sparks, Liz Cambage averaged 13 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.6 blocks.
