The Data Center Engineer, SAN (Storage Area Network), VMware ESXi, VMware vSphere 5.1 or later, Cisco UCS servers, Veritas, Veeam, Dell EMC servers and storage, HPE and Synergy servers is responsible for ‘operation of a data center infrastructure that includes servers/storage systems. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring all aspects of system uptime by troubleshooting server hardware and application issues, as well as supporting and implementing backup technologies. You will also provide technical support to our customers in person or remotely to solve problems that may arise from an installed system
Exposure to large hosted and on-premises data centers
Ensure customer site infrastructure is configured, installed, tested and operational. Ensure that any software that is part of the solution is installed and configured according to the customer’s requirements. Proactively identify issues and errors as they occur and log these incidents in a timely manner. with the required level of detail. Liaise with all stakeholders, including client IT environments and colleagues, to expedite the diagnosis of errors and issues and to identify a resolution. Investigate assigned frontline support calls and identify root cause of incidents and issues following knowledge articles. Respond and diagnose. all alerts, escalate to L4 engineer or vendor when they cannot be resolved within the stipulated time Ensure incidents are updated with progress and resolution details in a timely manner via the required platform Ensure the efficient and comprehensive resolution of incidents and requests Apply tools, techniques and processes to track, record, report and correct configuration items, components and changes Investigate problems in systems, processes and services and assist with the implementation of agreed solutions and on-site technical support to customers and on-site technical support to customers Provide first and second field engineering services to customers and assist with escalation to more junior engineer levels Report and escalate incidents to third-party vendors when appropriate necessary and take end-to-end ownership Follow required handover procedures for shift changes to ensure continuity of service . verbal and written Ability to plan activities and projects well in advance and consider possible changing circumstances preventive measures Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Ability to plan activities and projects well in advance and consider possible changing circumstances Maintain a positive outlook of work Work well in a pressurized environment and take ownership from point to point.
