NASCAR announced some updated rule changes for the remainder of the 2022 Cup season Wednesday afternoon.

FOX reporter Bob Pockrass tweeted the updated official rule changes for the Cup championship push.

“NASCAR has updated the rules for wrapping, quarter windows and windshield breaking as part of a bulletin today,” he reported on Twitter.

Pockrass also shed more light on the situation.

He said the reason for the change is “probably to make sure that teams don’t try to manipulate things in those areas. They often make tweaks to the rules based on what they see teams doing.”

Meanwhile, NASCAR fans are speculating.

“Anything to help on the 9th and 11th,” one fan wrote.

“Of course they’re taking that out now. I guess it wasn’t written that way before. And that’s how they got away with the tape and not a HUGE PENALTY,” one fan added.

“They’re catching those who are finding gray areas in the rules now and putting the no-no’s in writing,” another fan added.

NASCAR’s Cup Series continues Sunday.
