It will be the Baker Mayfield show in Carolina.
The former Cleveland Browns quarterback will be named the Panthers’ starter before Week 1, according to a report from The Athletic.
“Baker Mayfield is expected to be named the Panthers’ starting QB in Week 1, sources say. He’s been competing with Sam Darnold, but should be declared the starter when the team is ready to make the announcement,” reports Jeff Howe.
NFL fans are not surprised.
“Color me surprised. This ‘competition’ has been weird from the start,” one fan tweeted.
“It shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. And no, I’m not a ‘Baker bro’. Darnold is just…not very good,” one fan added.
“Panthers 17-0 entering season,” one fan predicted.
“This revenge game is going to be sensational,” one fan added.
Coincidentally, the Browns face the Panthers in Week 1.
