BREAKING NEWS: Ethiopia PM Invites Gen Muhoozi to Addis Ababa

The country’s Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has been invited to visit the country.

ChimpReports has learned that General Muhoozi, who also serves as Senior Presidential Adviser in charge of Special Operations, was invited by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed to discuss regional security.

“It is true, he will go to Addis Ababa at the invitation of the government there,” Land Forces spokesman Lt. Col. Chris Magezi confirmed when contacted by this website on Saturday afternoon.

“General Muhoozi will be in Addis Ababa soon,” he added.

Muhoozi has a strong view on the conflict in Ethiopia.

He, however, recently tweeted that he had “never had a problem with my brother Excellency Abiy Ahmed, in fact I respect him. All we want is peace in Ethiopia.”

The development comes almost a month after President Museveni held talks with Ethiopia’s ambassador to Uganda, Alemtsehay Meseret Gelaw at the State House in Entebbe.

The president and Meseret discussed the economic and security situation in the region.

“The right thing is dialogue so that everyone involved has a situation of mutual benefit,” President Museveni has observed regarding the conflict in Ethiopia.

Muhoozi also met with Amb Meseret, saying the two had “very friendly and frank talks. We talked about the long history of Uganda and Ethiopia. We pray for peace and reconciliation in Ethiopia!”

He also visited Egypt where he held talks with President Al Sisi. Egypt has been at odds with Addis Ababa over Ethiopia’s Grand Renaissance Dam.
