‘Totally unacceptable’: Nick Scutari calls for hearings into NJ legal weed delays – Asbury Park Press

TRENTON – Senate President Nick Scutari will form a special committee and conduct oversight hearings investigating what’s caused “totally unacceptable” delays in opening up legal weed sales in New Jersey.  Scutari, the main legislative sponsor for New Jersey marijuana legalization, announced the formation of the committee and hearings just five days after the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission tabled a vote on allowing some existing medical marijuana dispensaries to begin selling legal weed to recreational customers over 21 years old.  The tabling of the vote left state government and cannabis industry officials slackjawed.  “These delays are totally unacceptable,” Scutari said in…

If you’ve purchased cannabis in the US anytime over the past several months, years or even decades, you’ve likely noticed that while specials come and go, the rough price of an eighth of an ounce of weed has hovered reliably around the $40 mark. In some states, the average price is closer to $50, and top-shelf (or rapacious retailers) might demand $60, but everything still seems pegged towards expecting to withdraw a few Andrew Jacksons whenever it’s time to pick up a bag. It’s been this way for a long time.  “We used to pay $60 [in the mid-to-early 1990s], but that’s about right,” agreed Walter…

Michigan Activists Begin Signature Gathering For Psychedelics Legalization Ballot Initiative Following State Certification – Marijuana Moment

Most New Yorkers voters are against allowing people with prior marijuana convictions to get a head start in launching adult-use retail stores in the state, a new poll found just days after regulators approved a proposal to do just that. The survey from Siena College shows that only 33 percent of New Yorkers favor “ensuring that many of the first licenses for marijuana retail stores go to those previously convicted of marijuana-related crimes or their family members,” compared to 54 percent who are opposed and 13 percent who said they aren’t sure. It’s an interesting data point, as there’s generally…
