Tolland PZC to allow retail cannabis sales, cultivation – Hartford Business Journal
Tolland’s Planning and Zoning Commission voted 4-1 Monday night to allow retail cannabis establishments in most of the town’s commercial zones with certain restrictions. Under the new rules, a cannabis retailer or medical marijuana dispensary would be allowed by site plan in nearly every commercial zone except a small area at the intersection of Baxter Street and Route 195. Additionally, any retail cannabis establishment in the Technology Campus Zone along Route 195 between Goose Lane and Hillview Drive would need a special permit, since retail is not normally permitted in this area. The PZC also decided to place additional restrictions…

A Rhode Island Senate committee on Tuesday held the first hearing on a much-anticipated bill to legalize marijuana in the state. Joshua Miller (D), which was unveiled earlier this month, was heard in the Senate Judiciary Committee. A companion House version from Rep. Scott Slater (D) has not yet been scheduled for a committee hearing. This development also comes two months after Gov. Dan McKee (D) included a proposal to end cannabis…

At least forty people gathered at the state Capitol today to protest a bill that would crack down on giving away adult-use and medical use cannabis. Lawmakers testified in a hearing last week that the bill’s purpose is to target unlicensed businesses operating under false pretenses. But the bill also has language that would ban cannabis distribution at any event that charges a cover — such as the High Bazaar in Hamden, which uses its cover fee to pay for permits and on-site medical staff. The law, if passed as written, would also forbid any other sales at events where…

Cannabis “gifting” parties and billboard advertising would be banned under legislation that was overwhelmingly approved Tuesday by a key legislative panel. Lawmakers who voted against the bill included state Sen. Cathy Osten, D-Sprague, and Sen. John Kissel, E-Enfield, who warned that despite hearing testimony from the state’s…
