Work Underway on Cannabis Ordinance for West Hartford – We-Ha – http://www.we-ha.com

The West Hartford Town Council’s Community Planning and Economic Development Committee began a discussion of how the town will approach the use and retail sale of cannabis. By Ronni Newton Adult possession of a certain quantity of recreational cannabis was legalized in Connecticut in July 2021, and while retail sales in the state have not yet been authorized, in October 2021 the portion of the act permitting municipalities to regulate use of the substance took effect and the Town of West Hartford is in the early stages of discussing not only possible regulation of the use of recreational cannabis, but also…

Is The Marijuana Dispensary Break-in Wave Payback for “Defund the Police?”

If you work at a cannabis dispensary, cultivation site or distribution center in Oakland, CA, you likely spent most of New Year’s Eve with your eyes glued to a screen, nervously staring at security camera footage—like some weed version of The Purge—waiting to see if the evening would bring yet another wave of attackers to your doorstep. 2021 went and 2022 came without a reported smash-and-grab. But cannabis businesses are still on high alert in the Bay Area and much of California—a scene repeated throughout much of the country, but perhaps felt most acutely in the legalization movement’s northern California cradle. In…

Stratford may seek six-month moratorium on pot dispensaries – CTPost

STRATFORD — Stratford may become the latest town in the state to issue a temporary moratorium on recreational cannabis sales, just weeks before the state is set to begin accepting applications for cannabis sale licenses. The town Planning Commission, at its Jan. 18 meeting, voted to recommend a six-month moratorium to the Zoning Commission. Town Planner Susmitha Attota said the reason is simple. Such businesses have never been legal before, so there’s no blueprint on approving them. Thus, the commission is recommending a moratorium. More cannabis coverage “Our Plan of Conservation and Development does not provide guidance for location of…

Virginia Psilocybin Decriminalization Bill Enjoys Bipartisan Support In Senate Committee, But Revisions Are Forthcoming – Marijuana Moment

Thursday marks the end of President Joe Biden’s first year in office—and, by and large, his campaign promises on marijuana policy have so far gone unfilled. And while certain federal agencies have taken some positive reform steps, the administration managed to stir controversy over some outwardly hostile actions with respect to cannabis policy. Contrary to Biden’s campaign pledges, cannabis has not been federally decriminalized, people remain in federal prison over non-violent marijuana offenses and the plant has yet to be rescheduled under the Controlled Substances Act. Of the cannabis promises that Biden made while running for president, just one has…
